We are pleased to share the positive findings of our latest 2023 Gender Pay Gap Report.
Gender wage gap
According to the latest report, the median gender pay gap at the BHF increased slightly from -0.1% in 2022 to 0.7% in 2023, favoring men. This marks a slight change from last year, when women earned higher average wages than men.
Calculating the median gender pay gap shows that men earned 1 pence more than women in 2023, compared to 1 pence less than women in 2023.
Encouragingly, we are proud that our gender pay gap remains close to zero and is much lower than the majority of other organizations in the UK.
Ethnic wage disparity
As part of our continued commitment to equality, we also decided to report on the ethnic pay gap. The median racial pay gap in 2023 will be 7.4%, favoring ethnic minority colleagues, from 12.2% in 2022.
Ethnic minority colleagues make up 10% of our workforce and 11% of staff in the top quartile of pay.

What’s next?
Over the past year, we have made progress in a number of key areas, including a focus on local hiring in retail, bringing diversity to our graduate programs, building accountability led by senior leaders, and continuing to strengthen our inclusive hiring practices. announced that it would be prioritized. We continue to work to equalize gender and ethnic pay gaps, but our efforts to achieve a workforce that reflects British characteristics may widen some gaps in the short term. I am aware that there is a gender. We will continue to take responsibility and monitor our position.
