An event to fight heart disease in Blainau Gwent will be held later this month.

This free health gathering is scheduled for April 18th from 2pm to 4:30pm at Moose Hall in Tredegar and aims to provide education and tools to improve heart health. Masu.

Heart and circulatory diseases account for more than a quarter of deaths in Blainau Gwent, with around 20 people dying a month in the area.

The North Gwent Cardiac Rehabilitation and Aftercare Charity, which runs weekly cardiac rehabilitation exercise classes in the area, is hosting the event, saying there are simple steps to improve heart health.

Charity Chair Jackie Miles MBE said: “The aim of the afternoon is to give people practical ways to protect their heart health.

“So it’s great to have experts coming in to advise us.

“But we also know that hearing real-life stories can be hugely beneficial for people, and we’re grateful to Neil for agreeing to share his experiences.”

We hope people will be encouraged and inspired by true stories like Neil Dufty’s.

Mr Dufty put his life back together after being diagnosed with microvascular angina, a debilitating heart disease.

The charity outlined a comprehensive program with experts speaking on a variety of aspects including eating for a healthy heart, managing cholesterol and effectively overcoming long-term health conditions.

“Cardiovascular disease is a huge problem in the Valleys and it is shocking to think that people here have worse symptoms of heart disease than almost anywhere else in Wales.

“In fact, according to the latest figures from the British Heart Foundation, Blainau Gwent has the third highest rate of premature death from heart disease in Wales, on par with Neath Port Talbot and the worst of Merthyr Tydfil and Newport. He was second only to those two,” he added. Mr. Miles.

She believes the key to living a longer, healthier life lies in providing the right information and support.

She called on anyone who suffers from heart disease, either personally or through a loved one, to take advantage of this opportunity for education and networking, without the need for advance reservations.

The charity welcomes everyone and provides free refreshments.
