Country singer and rapper Colt Ford, 54, was hospitalized after suffering a heart attack after a night performance in Arizona.

As of Friday afternoon, Ford was in “stable but critical condition,” a spokesperson for the singer-songwriter said in a statement to USA TODAY.

Ford, a former professional golfer, was being treated in an intensive care unit in Mesa, southeast of Phoenix, according to a previous press release. He was performing Thursday night at Dierk’s Bentley’s Whiskey Row, a country bar in neighboring Gilbert.

This isn’t the first time the Georgia-born singer, real name Jason Brown, has dealt with health issues. In May 2023, he spoke to Taste of Country about being diagnosed with the autoimmune disease myasthenia gravis. In his interview, he talked about how the disease commonly affects the muscles of the face, eyes and throat and that there is no cure.

He said the condition affected his vision in his right eye uncontrollably.

Ford also revealed that he had been suffering from fatigue while performing shows, but had been taking supplements from his doctor, which were “really helping” him at the time.

Mr. Ford has also been battling eye cancer and underwent surgery about three years ago.
