Mysore/Mysore: In a tragic turn of events and a twist of fate, a man suffers a fatal heart attack at home after his wife commits suicide. Vivekananda Nagar in town on Friday.
The couple, Mr. Manjunath (58), an electrician at the railway department workshop in Ashokapuram, and his wife Vijayalakshmi (54) were residents of Vivekananda Nagar.
The couple’s relationship seemed normal until about three to four years ago when Vijayalakshmi started suffering from insomnia, which caused her to fall into mental depression. Manjunath said his wife was fine when she returned home for lunch around 2pm on Friday.
But when he returned from work around 6 p.m., he found the door locked and despite repeated attempts to enter, there was no response.
With the help of a neighbor, Manjunath broke open the door and found his wife hanging from a ceiling fan by her churidar veil. This information was conveyed to the Kuvempu Nagar police who reached the spot. Later, the police shifted Ms. Vijayalakshmi’s body to the mortuary.
Immediately afterwards, Manjunath was in deep sadness and shock and started experiencing chest pains and was immediately rushed to a private hospital where he breathed his last around midnight. The couple’s last rites are scheduled to take place after one of her daughters arrives from the United States today. Inspector Yogish of Kuvempu Nagar police registered a case.
