The arrest was part of an operation launched by police after the seizure of valuable drugs. INR370 billion was produced from the Kurukumbu MIDC-based factory on February 20 this year.

Acting on a tip-off, a team from Samarth police station set a trap and found Sayad handing over drug parcels to a courier on his premises. Police officers rushed into his house to arrest him. Seeing the police’s movements, Sayad felt uneasy and collapsed on the spot.

“The suspect was taken to a hospital where he was declared dead due to heart attack,” said Maruti Patil, senior inspector of Samarth police station.

Police seized the drugs during the raid and arrested Ajay Parashar, a resident of Hadapsar, who had ordered the drugs from Sayad. Officials announced that Parashar has transferred. INRSayad had $30,000 in his mobile wallet to buy drugs, which he gave to a courier when police raided his home.

A case of accidental death was reported at Samarth police station.
