“My father, Daniel, passed away at the age of 59, so I’ve been worried about it,” he said. “In the back of my mind I knew I had to get over his father’s age, so turning 60 was a bit of a milestone.

“I was 33 years old when my father passed away. I had just finished appearing on the Royal Variety Show, which launched my career, but my father died of heart failure two weeks later, I couldn’t see it.

“Once you know it’s hereditary, you start getting tested regularly. Of course, that’s a concern.”

Bradley went on to say that he gets a thorough check-up every few years and has his arteries checked regularly.

He added: “I was very lucky with the calcium test, but the doctor said I was producing too much cholesterol.

“I thought, ‘Oh, my god, if I don’t lose weight and deal with this, I’m going to be in big trouble here.’ I made a conscious decision to stay stuck. So I touched wood. If so, I’ll be fine.”
