A paramedic who suffered a heart attack while making a 999 call has been reunited with the woman he was treating for the same emergency.

Jeremy Williams was helping Daisy Devane perform CPR in June 2022 when he also collapsed.

They both survived as other 999 crew members came to their rescue and are now reunited to highlight the importance of learning CPR.

Ms Devane, now 33, from Stewartby, Bedfordshire, was kept alive by her boyfriend (now husband) Eamonn after she collapsed.

A first aid teacher, she taught him chest compressions, which he performed while waiting for paramedics.

Ms Devane, now 33, from Stewartby, Bedfordshire, was kept alive by her boyfriend (now husband) Eamonn (right) after she collapsed.

But 10 minutes after arriving, 55-year-old Williams himself suffered a heart attack.

He was fitted with two stents at the hospital and when he returned home discovered Mrs Devane had also survived.

She was hospitalized for 33 days and was fitted with an implantable cardioverter defibrillator called an S-ICD. This defibrillator delivers shocks to the heart in the event of repeated attacks.

“It was great to see Jeremy again,” Mrs. Devane said.

“It was great to be able to sit down and talk to him because we shared this big life event.”
