This week, two nationally recognized regional cardiovascular programs announced an extension of their partnership. The collaboration between Atlantic Health System’s Morristown Medical Center and NYU Langone Health focuses on congenital heart disease in adults.

The two organizations partnered on organ transplants in 2021. This expanded partnership aims to improve access to adult congenital heart disease services and improve expert-led care that improves patients’ quality of life.

Officials from the two health systems note that there are nearly 2 million adults in the United States with congenital heart defects. Moreover, the disease affects almost 1% of births annually in the country, or 40,000 births.

“This collaborative approach with our colleagues at New York University Langone will provide patients with congenital heart disease the specialized care they need to live better lives,” said AHS Adult Congenital Heart Disease Director. said Claire Boccia-Liang, medical director.
