– Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons (VP&S) announced the creation of the Garrett Isaac Neubauer Center for Cardiovascular Innovation dedicated to improving the lives of children with congenital heart disease (CHD).

– The $50 million center aims to build brighter futures for children with CHD, powered by a $15 million gift from Lawrence Neubauer and additional support from Columbia University Irving Medical Center and NewYork-Presbyterian Church I am.

Transforming pediatric cardiac care

Approximately 40,000 newborns in the United States are affected by CHD each year, ranging from mild to severe cardiac malformations.

Columbia University boasts world-renowned expertise in pediatric cardiology, surgery, and subspecialties, making us a center for success. The Center’s mission is to:

– Measuring results: Identify the most effective treatments and establish performance benchmarks.

– Research on the development and treatment of CHD: Leverage Columbia’s resources in genetics, xenotransplantation, valve development, and 3D printing to advance the understanding and treatment of CHD.

– Train the next generation of CHD and pediatric cardiology experts.

Garrett Isaac Neubauer Center for Cardiovascular Innovation Leadership

The center will leverage the expertise of distinguished leaders across pediatric cardiology, cardiac surgery, and other related specialties at Columbia University and NewYork-Presbyterian. It is led by a team of experts.

– Dr. Jordan S. Orange, MD: Director of Pediatrics at VP&S and Attending Physician at NewYork-Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital.

– Dr. Christopher Petit, MD: Director of Pediatric Cardiology.

–Dr. Emil Basha, MD: Director of Cardiac, Thoracic, and Vascular Surgery.
