The Franciscan Health Heart & Vascular Institute Olympia Fields Echocardiography Laboratory has achieved accreditation by the Social Accreditation Commission (ICA) for adult transthoracic echocardiography.
Echocardiography (also called echocardiography) is a type of non-invasive imaging used to evaluate different areas of the heart and can detect signs of heart disease or serious conditions. Early detection of heart disease can mean the difference between life and death and is key to a successful treatment plan.
“ICA accreditation ensures quality echo imaging and reporting at the highest level for superior patient care and outcomes,” said Dr. Kendra Marsh Cates, Medical Director of Echo Lab.
IAC accreditation follows an intensive application and review process and certifies compliance with published standards to demonstrate a commitment to quality patient care in echocardiography.
“I am extremely proud that our non-invasive cardiology team achieved this important accomplishment,” said Charlie Russmason, director of cardiology services at Franciscan Health Olympia Fields. states. “It was truly a collaborative effort, with cardiologists, sonographers, and leaders working together to achieve this goal.”
