A quarter (25%) of UK men have never donated clothing to a charity shop, so our menswear sales have increased by 35% year-on-year.

Our poll shows that men aged 55 and over are the most likely to donate (77%), with 1 in 10 people having donated clothes to a charity shop in the past. (10%) said they would only donate new clothes. This fall, we’re asking the public to clean out their wardrobes and donate quality unwanted clothing to our shop.

Prelove is giving

BHF Retail Ambassador and Love Island star Dr Brett Staniland recently visited the eBay hub and had fun looking at the many donations. He said: “I’ve always been a strong proponent of buying second-hand and encouraging others to rethink the way they shop. But this poll shows that buying second-hand items can give them a new home in your wardrobe. It shows how important it is to consider what items might be given. The movement of the second hand is not just about receiving, it is equally important to give.”

“We’re all guilty of clothes and accessories we once loved that no longer fit, or items kept for occasions we’ve only worn once. Give them a second chance at life and find your local BHF Donate to the shop. It’s so simple and easy.”

A quarter of men have never donated clothes

Recognizing the popularity of menswear, our new shop in Dalston, London is stocking the shelves with menswear and attracting even more customers. Alison Swain-Hughes, our Retail Director, said: We’ve had several menswear collections lined up at the front of the store to draw customers through the door, but we need donations to keep the store stocked and to raise funds for vital life-saving research.

‘A quarter of men have never donated clothes to a charity shop before, so we want to encourage them to do so. We want to encourage you to donate your favorite items to us. We’ve made it incredibly easy to do so, and we hope the public will look through their wardrobes and donate high-quality items to us this fall.”
