He is “slowly” regaining his health.

Country singer and rapper Colt Ford, 53, suffered a heart attack Thursday night but is reportedly recovering.

“Ford remains in the ICU and his condition is steadily improving in a positive direction,” a team representative told People on Monday.

“At this time, his family has requested privacy and appreciates your continued thoughts and prayers.”

Ford (née Jason Farris Brown) first rose to fame as a professional golfer before turning to music, releasing his first album in 2008.

He is best known for songs such as “Slow Ride,” “Times We Had,” “Dirt Road Anthem,” and “Must Be the Country.”

In the past, he has collaborated with a variety of stars including Jake Owen, Chase Rice, Walker Hayes, Toby Keith, Lady A, and Willie Nelson.

On Thursday night, Ford had just finished a set at Dierk’s Bentley’s Whiskey Row (a restaurant and nightclub named after the hit singer) in Gilbert, Arizona, when he suffered a medical emergency.

He was taken to Banner Desert Medical Center in Mesa and placed in the intensive care unit.

He was then transferred to the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, a representative for Ford told the Post. Following the incident, Ford was reportedly in stable but critical condition, but his representative told PEOPLE that he is “steadily recovering.”

Before his hospitalization, he was scheduled to perform at two other venues in Nevada and Arizona over the weekend.

Ford has had various health problems in the past.

In 2022, Ford was diagnosed with myasthenia gravis, a chronic neuromuscular autoimmune disease that causes voluntary muscle weakness.

“It didn’t really affect my throat, but it affected my eyes a lot. I couldn’t control my right eye,” Colt told Taste of Country in 2023. I could see perfectly with either eye, but if you looked at them together you would see three people and they would blend together like a lava lamp. ”

A year ago, he announced that he had been diagnosed with eye cancer, but was caught early enough to avoid full chemotherapy.

“The doctors told me I had a week to 10 days until I had to go through full chemotherapy,” he told People magazine at the time.

In May 2023, Ford told Taste of Country: My life is in a great place. We are planning to get married in October. I found my person,” he said, referring to his current wife Megan.

“And as happy and excited as I’ve ever been about music, it’s kind of incredible. I feel like I’m not even done making the best music.”
